Preparing your design portfolio

Read through the information on this page before preparing your portfolio.

Non current school leavers who are applying for design courses, either single degrees or combined with International Studies, can submit a design portfolio to support their application. The portfolio is an optional part of the application process and is used for interview short-listing.

Applicants applying for multiple design specialisations are able to submit portfolios targeted for each specific design area. Applicants to a single degree design course and the same design specialisation combined with a BA in International Studies can submit one portfolio which will cover both preferences.

Portfolios must be submitted online using UAC's Upload facility by October 31.

Portfolio format

The portfolio must be a digital portfolio (max. 3mb) of 6 X A4 landscape pages in a single document including:

  • five (5) pages of digital files of scans and/or photographs (compressed jpegs for web viewing) of original design work appropriate to the course
  • one (1) page written submission (150-200 words) that selects and identifies one of the submitted pieces of work, addressing the aims of the work and why it succeeded (text must be supplied in 16 point Helvetica, with 1.5 line spacing).

You must include your name and UAC application number on the first page and incorporate all six (6) pages into one single document (max. 3mb) before you upload it to UAC.

Outcomes

Interview ranks will be used if they improve your chances of selection.

Applicants who do not submit a portfolio or are not shortlisted for interview will still be considered for entry based on their academic results.
