Getting into UTS
Eligibility criteria
As a mature aged or other non-current school leaver, to be eligible to apply for undergraduate study at UTS you must meet at least one of the eligibility criteria:
- You have completed a NSW Higher School Certificate or Australian equivalent, and achieved an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 69 or higher.
- You have a recognised TAFE or Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualification, either:
- Associate Diploma,
- Diploma,
- Advanced Diploma, or
- Tertiary Preparation Certificate.
- You have successfully completed an INSEARCH diploma qualification, for example:
Diploma of Business and Commerce, Diploma of Business Studies, Diploma of Information Technology, Diploma of Design or Diploma of Communication (Visual Media). - You have completed at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at an Australian university or college of advanced education.
- You have an approved overseas qualification (you will also have to prove your proficiency in English).
- You are a mature-age student (20 years or older) and can show good selection prospects as a student through a:
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT),

If you meet one of the listed eligibility criteria you will be eligible to be considered for selection; however you still have to compete for an offer on the basis of your academic qualifications and past experience.
