Facilities at UTS

As a university of technology, UTS is committed to investing in state-of-the-art facilities to ensure our students learn with the most up-to-date technologies.

Just a few examples of the facilities on campus:

  • Engineering remote labs

    The Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology at UTS is a world leader in the development of remotely accessible teaching laboratories, and is proud to house the most advanced, innovative and dedicated remote laboratory facility worldwide.

    The remote labs allow students to conduct real-time experiments with actual apparatus and equipment at anytime, from anywhere.

  • Communication media production labs and sound facilities

    UTS: Communication Final Cut Pro HD video edit suite is equipped with everything needed for quality capture, edit and playback, plus image enhancement and manipulation affects filters.

  • SimMan 3G

    Taking medical mannequins to a new level, SimMan 3G is a wireless patient simulator that allows students to test clinical features: airway, breathing, circulation, disability and examination.

    Owned by UTS: Nursing, Midwifery and Health, SimMan 3G responds to drugs and gives you feedback all before you start working on real patients.

  • Motion capture lab

    Using the same world-class system as leading animation companies, the Motion Capture lab uses a Vicon optical system which enables animators to produce characters with life-like movement.

  • Forensics labs

    The UTS: Science Forensics Labs are equipped with commercial-grade instruments, including comparison microscopes for analysis of hairs, paint chips, fibres and bullets, as well as forensic light sources for visualising and examining bloodstains, semen, saliva and fingerprints.

  • UTS campus development

    A large-scale expansion and redevelopment of the City campus has begun, enabling UTS to further cement its role as a key educational, medical, research and technology centre.

    Just two of the many developments planned, are:

    • The new Broadway Building which will be home to the Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology.
    • The UTS Business School's Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, the first building in Australia designed by Frank Gehry, one of the world's most influential architects.

    Both of these buildings are due for completion at the end of 2013.
