How to apply to uni
If you want to apply to uni in NSW or the ACT straight after you finish your HSC, you need to apply through the University Admission Centre (UAC) in the September of your final year at school.
Course selection
On your UAC application you will be asked to list your course preferences. It's important to list your course preferences in the order that you'd most like to study, not in the order of the courses you think you're mostly likely to get into. You will be offered a place in the first course on your list for which you achieve the ATAR cut-off.
Additional selection criteria
Some courses have additional selection criteria, where you are required to do something in addition to completing your UAC application. Additional selection criteria may include providing a portfolio, submitting an additional application form or personal statement, or you could be required to attend an interview.
Getting your offer
Most offers are made in January. There may also be late-round offers in February to a small number of courses that still have vacancies.
