School to uni planner

Year 10

  • Decide on your HSC subjects – do what you're good at and what you enjoy so you get the best ATAR.
  • Think about what you really like doing – and what you definitely don't want to do.
  • Make a list of possible careers and research them
  • Start researching about uni, TAFE and work.
  • Do some work experience in areas that interest you.

Year 11

  • Visit uni open days.
  • Talk to your careers adviser.
  • Talk to other people who can help you decide what to study and which universities might be best for you.
  • Keep a notebook for ideas from conversations, your uni visits and what you find on the web.
  • Make a ‘first draft' list of your preferences for courses and unis.
  • Find out the ATAR you need and work towards achieving that (remember that the final ATAR cut-off for any course you look at will only be a guide – they change each year).
