School to uni planner
Year 10
- Decide on your HSC subjects – do what you're good at and what you enjoy so you get the best ATAR.
- Think about what you really like doing – and what you definitely don't want to do.
- Make a list of possible careers and research them
- Start researching about uni, TAFE and work.
- Do some work experience in areas that interest you.
Year 11
- Visit uni open days.
- Talk to your careers adviser.
- Talk to other people who can help you decide what to study and which universities might be best for you.
- Keep a notebook for ideas from conversations, your uni visits and what you find on the web.
- Make a ‘first draft' list of your preferences for courses and unis.
- Find out the ATAR you need and work towards achieving that (remember that the final ATAR cut-off for any course you look at will only be a guide – they change each year).
